Sound Is Lovv : “Take Me With You”

maxresdefaultSound is Lovv : “Take me with You” video debut

The ships have all sank.. and these waves go on forever…

Sound is Lovv are a brandnew shoegaze project from Los Angeles who have just released their first music video of the single “Take me with You”. The video was directed by Jon Mancinetti who previously worked with Palms and El Ten Eleven.

The band are also planning to release an EP “Shipwrecks” in fall this year, that features former Smashing Pumpkins members Mike Byrne and Nicole Fiorentino playing drums and bass/backing vocals on the recordings. Fontman Brad Watson says he is influenced by similar sounding bands like Nothing, Whirr, Diiv, Beach Slang, Wild Nothing, Pumpkins, Cocteau Twins, Swervedriver, Ride etc.

“Take me with You” is a waltzy 6/8 time piece, with layers of howling guitars, faraway mellotrons, subdued male vocals and overtones of  Siren-like cooings. A Siren that lures helpless men to their destruction with her song, like the semi-naked Siren in the video that balances and poses amidst the rocks that have apparently wrecked quite a few ships already. Next to be wrecked are the band’s instruments (!), but hey, they were probably already ruined by the splashes of salty seawater. What the balloons symbolize I do not know. The Unbearable Lightness of Being? Who knows. It all looks and sounds colourful; fluid and resplendent! Can’t wait to hear more! Enjoy!
