Kingsbury – Emeralds

I came across this wonderful track because it was suggested as one new indie tracks on Spotify and it instantly hit me since it starts off as some sort of heavenly avalanche of sparkle, like the sounds of Sirens washing over you… The wonderful track progresses to reveal Caroline‘s superb vocals: a voice a range that reminds us strongly of Liz Fraser of the legendary Cocteau Twins. The difference here is the music however: dreamy electropop with a heavy emphasis on electro which makes it effervescent and danceable!

After the excellent debut single “Easy”,  “Emeralds” is the second single from the hopefully forthcoming and promising Kingsbury EP . There isn’t much out there yet but hopefully “Emeralds” will change that soon for Kingsbury! The post of the single on the Dreampop, Jangle and Twee group was really well received, so I am positive that people will notice and learn to love them! Amongst the whole spectrum of the new dreampop scene,  they sound a bit more distinct and that is truly refreshing.

Caroline Kingsbury was raised in a small Florida beach town and attended a military academy for middle and high school. At 13 she began discovering indie bands on the internet and posting covers of her favorite songs on Youtube, gaining surprising attention from other local Florida musicians. This inspired her to explore the craft of songwriting, armed only with my acoustic guitar and her powerful voice.

At 18, she graduated high school and moved to Nashville, Tennessee to attend Belmont University as a songwriting major. Here she began recruiting other musicians to create full-band renditions of her high school bedroom songs and scraped together shows around town before landing opening slots on tours with other Nashville bands.

After several months of touring her first EP, her connection to the folk roots of her music diminished, and she fell in love with rock and electronic-driven pop artists such as Bombay Bicycle Club, Feist, and The 1975. This led her to the decision to drop out of Belmont, move to LA, and redouble her efforts into a new creative project: Kingsbury.

Kingsbury channels Caroline’s soulful voice, keen sensibility for melody, and intensely personal lyricism into gorgeous, dreamy pop with an edge, building the perfect stage to spotlight her natural talent as a live performer.
