UK Cinema – English Girls

Canadian quintet UK Cinema released their first single “English Girls” on digital format on the 2nd of November along with a new video, directed and shot by Black Lake. The song is a melancholy, dreamy, laid back tune that will go down well with fans of Day Wave and Wild Nothing etc. Gossamer guitar-scapes are sustained by sharp vintage synth sounds, and a deadpan, lackadaisical, 80’s male vox tells us a story about an English girl ( “She tied me up completely/ And I found it endearing when She said I’d been a cunt“). The track is like a transient collection of blurry images that pass us by in a car: impressions and moments gone by too fast, too soon….

UK Cinema plan to step back into the studio in the Spring of 2018.

UK Cinema are a five-piece dreampop/ shoegaze/ indie project from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Each member once an amateur musician at an impressionably young age, UK Cinema has determined its varietal roots have grown upward from a youthful adoration for players on the stage to the euphoric sounds of musical impressionism, from falling in love with a song to creating a song to fall in love with.
Blooming from a spectrum of artistic influences ranging from filmic popular culture & independent cinema, to 80s New Wave & contemporary acts of alternative indie, UK Cinema seeks to fuse a love for timeless music with the attempt to contribute its own.
